Republic of Iran - Myth or Reality

You are invited to the conference about the existence of the Islamic Republic of Iran, to take place in Jerusalem on April 16th, 2048.
In this forum both positions (supporting and denying the existence of the Republic) will be allowed to freely express their view on the subject.

Background
Strange as it can sound, many people sustain that the Persian Depression was once a dry inhabited area, in which a theocratic State ruled the life of tens of millions of people.
They support their theory with dubious and many times contradictory material from the printed press, dated some 40 years ago.
One of these articles reads: "Thanks to people's wishes and God's will, the trend for the existence of the Zionist regime is downwards, and this is what God has promised and what all nations want",
with those words attributed to the supposed Republic's leader. It is known that Israel was once called "the Zionist State" or "the Zionist regime" by it's foes . This makes this piece of evidence unreliable, since the State of Israel notoriously exists and is celebrating its 100 years of existence next April.
It is also known that the levels of radiation in the Persian Depression is so high that no form of life could survive there, let alone human life. However, supporters of the Iranian theory argue that the area "was not a depression, but a mountainous region and that the traces of radioactive material are related to the collapse of Islamic Republic".
We hope that this colloquium will bring light on the issue, and prevent the abuse of revisionism for political purposes.
